Donated USD 100,000 to the East Asian Library of the UCLA, the U.S. for setting up Zhongkun oriental cultural communication foundation

On March 12th, 2009, Zhongkun Group donated USD100,000 to the East Asian Library of the UCLA for setting up Zhongkun oriental cultural communication foundation for the study and communication of Contemporary Literature of China.

According to Ms Jiang Wu Qingfen, who is the curator of the East Asian Library, in the library at that time, there were foundations funded by the governments of Japan and Korea, which made donations to the East Asian Library of the UCLA every year. China also donated officially a number of books to the UCLA, oversea Chinese in North America made lots of donations to China branch of the East Asia Library. However, it was the first time for Chinese government or enterprises to make donations to the library, and the amount donated was quite large. The library is based on reference books, yearbooks, chronicles and classical literature and it needed to be supplemented no matter in quantity or on classification. The USD 100,000 of donation this time may just help the library. As it is known, the donation of this time will be used in supplementing the China branch of the library on books of contemporary literature.
