International Retailing Giant Carrefour Showing Interest in Dazhongsi International Plaza.

On July 26th, after two years’ negotiation, Carrefour at last got the permit into the Dazhongsi International Plaza, becoming the first industry cooperating with the plaza. The ceremony of signing the contract was held the same afternoon, at the Great Wall Hotel. Those presenting in the ceremony include Mr. Huang Nubo, the chair of board of Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group, Jiao Qing, general manager of Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group, Mr. Philippe Lartigue, the general manager of North Carrefour, and Meng Weidong, board manager of Beijing Carrefour Business Co. Ltd. The two parties signed a contract on the details of Carrefour moving into the Dazhongsi International Plaza.

According to the contract, Carrefour will obtain the business area of 20 thousand square meters, with a lease period of 20 years. The place rented by Carrefour is beneath the north third ring, with the main operating area of 18 thousand square meters, on the 2nd floor underground.

Mr. Huang Nubo pointed out that “Dazhongsi International Plaza is a unique business project within the third ring of Beijing, occupying the advantageous situation, the commercial area it covers and the selling potentiality make it a cake for many industries. As to why Carrefour chooses the Dazhongsi International Plaza? Mr. Philippe Lartigue, the general manager of North Carrefour said that “Carrefour saw the bright future of the plaza in commercial development, and then we fixed it to be important base for Carrefour to develop in Beijing.”

According to the reporter of So Fun.Com, Dazhongsi International Plaza was competed for by the Fortune 500 companies since the project was started. Companies such as Metro, B&Q, Hymart, Macro, and Wumart once negotiated with the plaza to seek cooperation. Considering that Carrefour is the largest retailer in Europe and it has an influential power in China, combining with the position and design of the project, Beijing Zhongkun Group finally decided to choose Carrefour as its partner.

Dazhongsi International Plaza is situated in the intersection of the three business cycles including the Xizhimen, the Zhongguancun and Ya’ao. The plaza covers an area of 140 thousand square meters, with a architecture area of 430 thousand square meters.  The total investment of the project is over 3 billion yuan and it is listed in the 60 key projects in Beijing. The plaza is planned to be divided into four theme zones, including the World Characteristic City, Leisure Street, Sleepless Night Club and High-quality Life Zone. The four buildings stand separately on the plaza, connected by pedestrian streets of modern style, forming a new business center in 21st Century.

Dazhongsi International Plaza is an innovation of the present business modal, unifying shopping, food service, cinemas, bars with the functions of leisure, entertainment, social intercourse and business, creating a new business modal mainly based on leisure and entertainment, with shopping as a supplement. This new human-centered modal presents an open business culture in the 21st Century. It is not limited to the traditional notion of shopping center, but becomes a humanistic commercial area beyond the material consuming, providing a new life style for people.

Dazhongsi International Plaza Project is planned to be completed in 2006. At that time, Dazhongsi International Plaza will make a center for people to experience a new urban life style.
